Louis Fleury

Louis François Fleury ( born May 24, 1878 in Lyon, † June 10, 1926 in Paris) was a French flautist and music journalist.

Fleury studied at the Conservatoire de Paris with Paul Taffanel and in 1900 was awarded a Premier Prix. In 1902 he joined the Société Moderne à Vent the instrument and was built in 1905 as the successor of Georges Barrere their head. Over the next 20 years he played more than 100 new chamber music works in order. In 1913 he gave the first performance of Claude Debussy's Syrinx. Fleury was indeed also active as an orchestral musician, but focused his performances that took him through Europe and to America, to chamber music. He was also active as a writer and music served as editor of numerous compositions of the 18th century for the flute.
