Louis James Alfred Lefébure-Wély

Louis James Alfred Lefébure - Wély ( born November 13, 1817 in Paris, † December 31, 1869 ) was a French organist and composer.

Life

Lefébure - Wély was born the son of the organist Isaac François Lefèbre ( later name change to Lefébure ) in Paris. He studied at the Paris Conservatoire Organ Music by François Benoist (1794-1878), one of the most renowned organists of his time, and piano with Pierre Zimmermann. Lefébure - Wély followed in the footsteps of his father and succeeded him as organist at the Paris Saint-Roch church from. In 1847 he moved to the church of La Madeleine ( also Paris) where he played from 1847 to 1857 at the newly built Cavaillé -Coll organ.
