Louis Mandrin

Louis Mandrin ( born February 11, 1725 in Saint- Étienne- de-Saint- Geoirs, † May 26 1755 in Valence ) was a robber captain and smuggler in the French Dauphiné at the time of the Ancien Régime. He was executed on 26 May 1755 in Valence.

Stylet life became the material for numerous edits in literature, opera and film. In the French territories of Savoy and Dauphiné applies stylet whose preferred victims were the officials of the royal French tax administration ( ferme générale ), today as a folk hero.
