Louis Persinger

Louis Persinger ( born February 11, 1887 in Rochester, Illinois, † December 31, 1966 in New York) was an American violinist and pianist.

Louis Persinger studied at the Conservatory of Leipzig before he completed his training in Brussels with Eugène Ysaÿe. He was concertmaster of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra and the Royal Opera Orchestra in Brussels, but returned at the outbreak of the First World War back to San Francisco. In 1915 he was concertmaster of the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra and from 1916 to 1928 Head of the Chamber Music Society of San Francisco. In 1930 he joined the successor of Leopold Auer in New York's Juilliard School.

He was known as a teacher of violinist Yehudi Menuhin, Guila Bustabo, Ruggiero Ricci, Isaac Stern, Camilla Wicks, Almita Vamos, Fredell paint, Frances Magnes, Sonya Monosoff, Miriam Soloviev, Arnold and Louise Behrend Eidus.

In addition, he accompanied Yehudi Menuhin and Ruggiero Ricci on the piano at concerts and LP recordings.
