Louis Sigurd Fridericia

Louis Sigurd Fridericia ( born February 24, 1881 in Copenhagen, † February 26, 1947 ) was a Danish hygienist.

Life

Fridericia studied at the University of Copenhagen and received his doctorate there in 1906. He continued his studies at Christian Bohr in Copenhagen at Ernst Leopold Salkowski in Berlin as well as Georges Dreyer and Francis Gotch at Oxford University. He habilitated in 1910 and in 1918 was appointed professor of hygiene. After the Nazi invasion of Denmark Fridericia had to hide and was smuggled in 1943 by friends in a fishing boat to Sweden. From there he came to London, where he lived until the liberation of his homeland. He was married Frederica funds with violinist Karen, who served during the Second World War in the Danish Brigade and died a few days after their return to liberated Denmark.

Fridericia's formula

The Fridericia's formula is an empirically determined mathematical equation to calculate the physiological QT time at different heart rates or the calculation of the rate-corrected QT interval ( QTc ) on the electrocardiogram.
