Louise Bertin

Louise - Angélique Bertin (* February 15, 1805 in Les Roches in Paris, † April 26, 1877 in Paris) was a French composer and poet. She was the daughter of Louis -François Bertin the Elder (1766-1841) ( director of the Journal of débats ).

She was a student of François -Joseph Fétis. She was writing several operas to:

  • Guy Mannering (1825 )
  • Le Loup- garou ( " Werewolf " ), a comic opera from 1827
  • Fausto (1831 )
  • Esmeralda, for a book by Victor Hugo (1836 )

It has produced some instrumental works and six piano ballads from her and a collection of poems Glanes which was awarded a prize by the Académie française.
