Louise Henriette de Bourbon

Louise Henriette de Bourbon, Mademoiselle de Conti ( born June 20, 1726 Paris, † February 9, 1759 same place ) was a French princess and by marriage Duchess of Chartres ( 1743) and since 1752 Duchess of Orléans.

Life

Louise Henriette was the youngest child and the only daughter of Louis Armand II de Bourbon, prince de Conti and his wife Louise Élisabeth de Bourbon, daughter of Louis III. de Bourbon, prince de Condé and Princess Louise Françoise de Bourbon. She was a princess of the blood, and cousin of the French king Louis XV.

On December 17, 1743 Princess Louise Henriette was with Duke Louis Philippe Chartres, son of Duke Louis I of Orléans and Countess Augusta Maria Johanna of Baden -Baden, married at Versailles. After the death of her father in 1752 he followed her husband to the Duke of Orléans.

The Duchess said to have died at the birth of an illegitimate child. Her son, Louis Philippe Joseph claimed under the reign of terror in 1793 that his father the Duke of Orléans was not, but a coachman from the royal palace of Versailles. But the strong resemblance between father and son was not to be overlooked.

Progeny

The marriage was considered not happy, but three children were born:

  • Mademoiselle de Chartres ( * July 13, 1745, † December 14, 1745 )
  • Louis Philippe Joseph ( born April 13, 1747 † November 6, 1793 ), known as Philippe Egalite, Duke of Orléans
  • Louise Marie Thérèse d' Orléans Bathilde (* July 9, 1750; † January 10, 1822 )
