Love for Lydia

Love for Lydia (AKA Love for Lydia ) is a thirteen -part British television series of the London Weekend Television ( LWT ) in 1977.

The series is based on a semi- autobiographical novel by British author HE Bates, first published in 1952.

In Germany it was broadcast on ARD from November 1978.

The setting is the small town Evers Ford late 1920s, early 1930s. Lydia, young and cheerful, does not accept the conventional specifications for their lives and strives for freedom and adventure. Although it has a number of admirers, but none of them understands their desire for independence and their fear of commitment to a partner.

The role of Lydia is played by Mel Martin. Moreover, inter alia, act with Christopher Blake, Christopher Hancock, Peter Davison, Jeremy Irons, Natasha Parry, Wendy Gifford, Ralph Arliss and Sherrie Hewson.
