Love Sick

Lovesick is a blues - rock song of the American singer-songwriter Bob Dylan, who was taken in January 1997 by Columbia Records under the production of Daniel Lanois and released in 1997 on Dylan's 30th studio album, Time Out of Mind. On 1 June 1998, the piece was then released as a single.

Formation

The song originated during the sessions for the album Time Out of Mind; he should finally be the opening song of the album. Dylan had last 1990 Under the Red Sky published their own songs and recorded after the bad feedback on this work two acoustic albums with guitar and harmonica ( Good As I Been to You and World Gone Wrong ).

During the work on Time Out of Mind Dylan was back to the Americana style that Dylan had played for the first time in 1989 on the album Oh Mercy also headed by producer Lanois. Time Out of Mind came with organ, echo and distortion but a lot darker.

The text

The lyrical text of the song uses strong metaphors and images, some of expressionistic nature. The song begins oppressive.

Even later verses underscore the gloomy mood:

Basically Love Sick is about a lovesick person who tries to dig through urban chaos, however, is completely taken away from this kind of love and is truly no longer can participate in everyday life:

The desire for plunder are the desire to finally get the love that you want to print. In his embarrassment and his pain, the lyrical I finally wants the person to whom he addressed his love to have never met. He just do not go on, but are finally give up on everything, just to be with her. There is no Vorrankommen.
