Lovell Beach House

The Lovell Beach House ( German: Lovell beach house ) is probably the most famous buildings of architect Rudolph Michael Schindler. Built in 1926, it is an outstanding example of modernism in architecture.

The property has the address of 1242 W. Oceanfront and located on the Baboa Peninsula, a district of Newport Beach in California. It is located on the beach in close proximity to the Pacific Ocean.

History

After Rudolph Michael Schindler had gained valuable experience under the famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright, he began in the early 1920s with the first own buildings. The client for his most famous work was Philip M. Lovell, after the beach house is named. Planning for the project began in 1925. Completion was only a year later, 1926. To this day, on the building several extensions were carried out.

Architecture

The building is in the so-called International Style. The modern architecture is to be regular and modular. The floor plan is informal and asymmetrical. The International style is exempt from any jewelry.

The viewer of the beach house falls in particular the over two floors completely exposed structure in the eye. Five massive concrete columns provide a safe location for the construction. The living area is located high above the ground. This opens up the house of a beautiful view of the sea.
