Lowercase (music)

Lowercase is the name of a radical form of minimalist ambient music, mostly with sounds extremely low volume, embedded in a more or less extensive stages of complete silence works. The material used in particular field recordings, whose origins are mostly very quiet. The recorded music produced can be very quiet in the result. The term lower case (in German literally "Lowercase " ) goes back to the artist and musician Steve Roden, the 1998 interviews chose him to characterize a particular form of music: " [ ... ] it does not demand attention, they to be discovered. A newsgroup was founded in March 1999 by James Coleman made ​​for increased communication and exchange of ideas.
