Luanginga River

BW

The Luanginga is a right tributary of the Zambezi River, which rises in Angola and flows near Mongu in Western Province in Zambia.

The Luanginga is about 500 kilometers long. It rises on the central plateau of the province of Moxico in Angola. Its valley is a broad floodplain with decreasing slope. The section between Kalabo and Mongu was recently channeled that a boat can easily happen. It's said that one could spend two nights at different places, because you need a whole day to create the next bend in the river. The Luanginga forms the southern boundary to Liuwa Plains National Park. Kalabo is the official access to them.
