The Lubsza ( German: Lubst or Lubis, Lower Sorbian: Lubuša ) is a right tributary of the Lusatian Neisse river in the Polish Lubusz and the largest river with source and mouth on their territory.

The 66.4 km long river, which has a catchment area of ​​914.1 km ², with several springs headwaters at an altitude of 180 m northwest of the village Olbrachtów and west of the town of Zary. After a rough flow towards the north, he turns to one third of its course northwest direction, takes several inflows and flows over the District Court of Guben in Gubin at 46 m above sea level. NN in the Neisse.

The name is derived from the old Slavic Luba luba = deep. The Lubsza flows through pine forests and swampy valleys and through the towns Jasień ( streets ), Lubsko ( Sommerfeld) and Gubin. In the past they always caused flooding, as in 1568, 1689 and 1740. Was not until the 1840s it was regulated on the occasion of the construction of railway Berlin -Breslau partially.

The river is now heavily polluted by agricultural effluents. This did not change with the construction of a sewage treatment plant in Lubsko, since a total of only a portion of the wastewater is cleaned.
