Luciano Giovannetti

Luciano Giovannetti ( born September 25, 1945 in Bottegone, Pistoia ) is a former Italian sports shooter.

Luciano Giovannetti, owner of an arms deal in his hometown of Pistoia, achieved at the Summer Olympic Games in 1980 and at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles each gold medal in trapshooting. At the games in 1980, he collected as a sign of joy after winning the Trapshooting after by shooting on his cap after he had thrown into the air.

Between his two Olympic victories 1982 he became world champion. After his retirement, he served as Italian national coach. He was the first Trapschütze in Olympic history to have won two consecutive games. The Australian rider Michael Diamond succeeded in doing so also later in the Games in 1996 in Atlanta and 2000 in Sydney.
