Luciano Manara

Luciano Manara (* 1825 in Antegnate in Bergamo, † June 30, 1849 in Rome ) was an Italian soldier and freedom fighter.

Risorgimento

Luciano Manara recorded in 1848 from the five-day popular uprising against the Austrian domination in Milan. There he captured at the top of the insurgents Porta Tosa (now Porta Vittoria). Immediately thereafter, he participated in the first Italian unification war in which he initially a voluntary association, then led a Piedmontese regular Bersaglieri unit. He then participated in the defense of the Roman Republic and Garibaldi was chief of staff. Manara fell on June 30, 1849 in the fight against French troops in Rome.

Only after years of requests of members allowed the Austrian Emperor Franz Joseph I in 1853, the funeral Manara in his Lombard home, where the public has been automatically rejected.
