Lucius Cassius Longinus (consul 107 BC)

Lucius Cassius Longinus († 107 BC) was a Roman senator of the late Republic and in the year 107 BC consul.

Life

About the early career of Lucius Cassius Longinus is not known. In 111 BC he was praetor, and had in this office the task of Numiderkönig Jugurtha from North Africa to escort safely to Rome, where these peace negotiations with the Roman Empire led.

In the year 107 BC, he was elected together with Gaius Marius consul. In this office he attempted threat of the Roman Empire by the Kimbernkriege to be Lord, and pitched his camp status in the province of Gallia Narbonensis on from where he wanted to fight the Ambrones and Cimbri. However, he fell in the same year at the Battle of Agen, a battle against the people of Tigurini.
