Lucius D. Battle

Lucius Durham Battle ( born June 1, 1918 in Dawson, Georgia, † 13 May 2008) was an American diplomat.

Career

Battle officiated from 1962 to 1964 as Secretary of State for Education and Cultural Affairs ( Assistant Secretary of State for Educational and Cultural Affairs ) in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United States from 1964 to 1967 and was the United States ambassador in Egypt. He then returned to Washington, D.C. back and worked again at the Foreign Ministry. This time he worked until 1968 as Secretary of State with responsibility for the Middle East and South Asia ( Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern and South Asian Affairs ).
