Lucjan Rydel

Lucjan Antoni Feliks Rydel ( born May 17, 1870 in Krakow, † April 8, 1918 in Bronowice Małe ) was a Polish poet and dramatist of the Young Poland period.

He was the son of the professor of ophthalmology and Rector of the Jagiellonian University, Lucjan Rydel (1833-1895), and his wife Helena nee Kremer and grandson of the philosopher Józef Kremer. He studied law in Krakow and art in Berlin and as a Fellow of the Polska Akademia Umiejętności in Paris. His marriage with the sister of the painter Włodzimierz Tetmajer became famous that they became the subject of an image of Tetmajer and drama Night Drive by Stanisław Wyspiański.
