Lucrezia de' Medici, Duchess of Ferrara

Lucrezia di Cosimo de ' Medici ( born February 14 or June 7, 1545 in Florence, † April 21, 1562 in Ferrara) was the fifth child together and the third daughter of Grand Duke Cosimo I of the Medici family and Eleonora of Toledo. She was married in June 1558 by procurationem with the Duke of Modena and Ferrara, Alfonso II d' Este, but moved to Ferrara only two years later. The marriage remained childless. Your sudden death at the age of only 16 years, fueled rumors that she had been poisoned by her husband.

It is the Duchess of Ferrare that Robert Browning described in My Last Duchess.
