Lüder Gerken

Luder Gerken ( born July 30, 1958 in Bremen ) is a German economist.

Career

After graduation Gerken trained as a banker. From 1981 to 1991 he studied economics ( diploma in Economics in 1985, PhD 1988) and law (First State Examination in Law, 1991). Then headed Gerken 1991-2001 the Walter Eucken Institute in Freiburg im Breisgau. He habilitated in 1998 at the University of Bayreuth and received the qualification to teach economics. He is an honorary professor at the Jacobs University in Bremen. From 2001 to 2004 Gerken was on the board of the Market Economy Foundation in Berlin. Since 1999 he has been Chairman of the Board of the Foundation Governance and Board of the Friedrich- August-von - Hayek -Stiftung, since 2006 director of the Centre for European Policy. He was interim curator of the Initiative New Social Market Economy.

His work focuses on domestic and international regulatory policy, European integration and location competition.
