Ludicra (Latin, Drama ') was founded in 1998 Metal-/Crustcore-Band, American from San Francisco.

History

Ludicra was founded in the fall of 1998 as a quartet by Jesika Christ, John Cobbett, Christy Cather and Aesop Dekker in San Francisco. The first appearance of the band took place in February 1999. A few months later, after four or five completed performances, the singer and bassist Jesika Christ rose from again to focus more on their some own band Sangre Amado. It was Sue Shanaman replaced by Ross Sewage on bass and Laurie as a singer. In the meanwhile 13 - year band history, this set represents the only line-up change

In 2001 the band recorded their first demo album Excerpts, shortly followed in the same year the demo Ludicra. The debut album Hollow Psalms was published in the spring of 2002 on the label Life is Abuse. After about two years, the first pressing of the album was sold out, and the band went back into the studio in early 2004 to record the follow up album Another Great Love Song. Even during the development process Ludicra was offered by the head of the traditional American Underground label Alternative Tentacles, Jello Biafra, a recording contract, so the band left the label Life is Abus, and released the album on Alternative Tentacles.

The EP was released in 2006, and Ludicra shortly thereafter Fex urbis lex orbis album. After about four years without further publications in which the band toured mainly gave concerts and appeared in the spring of 2010 the fourth studio album The Tenant.

Ludicra is currently at Profound Lore Records. Along with bands like Weakling it is considered as one of the pioneering bands in the U.S. Bay Area Black Metal scene. Some of the musicians are still active in other bands. So Ross Sewage also plays among others Impaled and Aesop Dekker at Agalloch.

Style

Ludicra combines in her music influences from the Black Metal of the second wave of punk, as some musicians of the band come from the punk scene. In addition there are elements of classic heavy metal and neofolk. In particular, the music of the new album The Tenant also has Progressive-Rock-/-Metal-Einflüsse. The lyrics deal with despair, hopelessness, drugs and other urban issues.

Enter Shikari describe their genre as Grey Metal, " a derivative of Black Metal".
