Ludvík Čelanský

Ludvik Vítězslav Čelanský ( born July 17, 1870 in Vienna, † 27 October 1931 in Prague) was a Czech conductor and composer.

Čelanský studied from 1892 to 1894 at the Prague Conservatory and worked as a theater conductor in Pilsen ( 1895), Zagreb ( 1898) and at the National Theatre in Prague ( 1899-1900 ). Then he was a conductor in Lviv, Kiev and Paris, conducted from 1918 to 1919, the Czech National Philharmonic and eventually worked in Brno. Alfred Einstein called him one of the best Czech conductor.

Čelanský composed the symphonic trilogy Adam Noe - Mojžíš, an opera ( Kamila ), a Te Deum, and the symphonic poem Hymn to the Sun. Stylistically, he is assigned to the late Romantic period.
