Ludvík Ráža

Ludvik Ráža ( born October 3, 1929 in Mukačevo, formerly Czechoslovakia; † 4 October 2000 in Prague, Czech Republic) was a Czech film director and screenwriter.

Biography

After the Second World War Ludvik Ráža completed his secondary school in Prague and worked for some years as a tutor in Cheb. From 1953 he studied at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague and was employed from 1958 to 1991 when the Czechoslovak Television. His debut as a film director, he was in 1963 with the book written by him family TV movie Podivný pan Barnabášek. From 1964 he was the director of the program division youth film. Therefore, he was known for his youth films and fairy tales films such as The Travelling Companion and Snow White and the Mystery of the Dwarves in the German speaking before all things.

On 4 October 2000, one day after his 71st birthday, Ráža died of complications from cancer. He was married once in his life. His daughter later worked also in the film as a costume designer.
