Ludwig Clamor Marquart

Ludwig Clamor Marquart ( born March 29, 1804 in Osnabrück, † May 10, 1881 in Bonn ) was a German pharmacist and entrepreneur.

Biography

He coined in 1835 in his essay "The colors of the flowers " called " anthocyanins " for flower pigments.

In 1846 he founded in Bonn utensils business with the name Marquart 's chemical storage utensils, in the entered Carl Gerhardt ( father of the painter August Macke ) as an apprentice. 1872 Carl Gerhardt acquired the business from his teacher Marquart. Also in 1846 he founded the Dr. L.C. Today The work is one of Evonik Industries.

Marquart is also regarded as a co-inventor of baking powder in a project with Justus von Liebig and Norton Horsford Eben. Marquart produced the baking soda as the first industrially as part of his company.
