Ludwig Erdwin Seyler

Ludwig Erdwin Seyler (also Ludewig and Edwin ) (* May 15, 1758, † October 26, 1836 ) was a German businessman and banker.

He was co-owner from 1788 to 1836 and from 1790 Senior of the trading and banking house Berenberg, Gossler & Co. He was with Anna Henriette Goßler, the oldest daughter of Johann Hinrich Goßler and Elisabeth Berenberg, married. His father took him on as a partner in 1788. From 1817 to 1818 he was president of the Commerz - Deputation (member from 1813).

His father Abel Seyler was originally a merchant, and later became famous as a theater director. His mother was Elisabeth Sophie Andreae (d. 1764), daughter of Leopold Hanover court apothecary Andreae. He was raised by his uncle Johann Gerhard Reinhard Andreae in Hanover. His sister Sophie was married from 1781 to Johann Anton Leisewitz. Through his father he was from Basel patrician families like Burckhardt, Merian, Faesch and Meyer from the arrow.

He was the father of Gerhard von Hoßtrup and Benjamin Wegner.
