Ludwig Heinrich Bojanus
Ludwig Heinrich von Bojanus (* July 16, 1776 in Bouxwiller, county of Hanau -Lichtenberg, Alsace, † April 2, 1827 in Darmstadt ) was a German zoologist.
Life
Bojanus studied at the Friedrich -Schiller- University Jena. He taught as a professor at the then Russian Vilnius University. In his scientific work he dealt among other things with aurochs, snakes and turtles and wrote the work Anatome Testudinis Europaeae. In the organs of molluscs Bojanus the organ was named after him, which has the function of a kidney in molluscs.
