Ludwig Trautmann

Ludwig Trautmann ( born November 22, 1885 in Dachsbach; † January 24, 1957 in Berlin) was a German actor.

Life

The qualified seller first appeared in June 1901 in front of a paying audience. His stage Stages, among other things, Bochum, Constance and Sibiu. Over a theater owner in Baden -Baden he received contact with the film.

On April 9, 1912, he signed a contract with the Bioscope film company. He soon became known in the role of detective Brown, directed by Harry Piel. In 1916 he played in Dora Brandes and The Love ABC on the side of Asta Nielsen. During the First World War, he also served several times as a director and producer.

From 1924 to 1932 Trautmann was not visible on the screen, then he reappeared in some supporting roles. From July to October 1935, he was arrested for homosexual acts on the basis of § 175, then followed by his expulsion from the Ministry of Arts and from the Reich Film Chamber.

He then went to France, but returned in 1939 back into the German Reich. In 1940 he was serving a new prison sentence of six months for violation of § 175 After the war he played at the Volksbühne Berlin and still came to some late movie roles. He died after a long illness in a hospital in Berlin -Schöneberg. His grave in the local cemetery was leveled.
