Ludwig von Salm-Hoogstraeten

Ludwig Albrecht Maria Constantin of Salm - Hoogstraeten ( born February 24, 1885 in Bad Homburg, † July 23, 1944 in Budapest) was an Austrian Count and tennis player.

Career

Count of Salm took from 1906 to tennis tournaments. In 1912 he played at the Olympic Games in Stockholm and reached the quarter-finals. In 1913 he made ​​his first appearance at the Wimbledon Championships on, but different in the second round against the Englishman C. Moore. In 1914 he reached the final of the hard court world championships in Paris, was beaten in three sets Anthony Wilding there, however.

After the First World War Salm played from 1926 to 1932 regularly with the French international championships, never got there but beyond the second round. Between 1924 and 1928 he took part for the Austrian team at the Davis Cup and won all three of his singles as well as one of five doubles during this time. After 1932, he ended his tennis career.

He died at the age of 59 years in 1944 in Budapest.
