Ludwig Wolff

Ludwig Wolff ( born September 27, 1857 in Neustadt on the Wine Route, † February 24, 1919 ) was a German chemist.

Life and work

Wolff studied chemistry at the universities of Würzburg and Munich. He received his doctorate at the University of Strasbourg, where Rudolph Fittig was his PhD supervisor. In 1891 he was appointed professor at the University of Jena.

Named after him are discovered by him Wolff rearrangement and the Wolff -Kishner reaction.
