The Lugu Lake (Chinese泸沽湖, Pinyin Lugu Hu) is a mountain lake on the Yunnan - Guizhou Plateau in the People's Republic of China. It lies at an altitude of 2690.75 meters above sea level and is one with an area of 48.5 km ² the largest mountain lakes in Asia. By the lake the provincial border between the Autonomous County of Ninglang Yi in Yunnan and Sichuan in the circle Yanyuan runs. He is a popular tourist destination. He is the Mosuo as a cultural center, which refer to him in their language as " Muttersee ". On one of the eight islands is a Buddhist monastery.
