Luigi Groto

Luigi Groto ( born September 7, 1541 Adria ( Veneto ), † December 13, 1585 in Venice) was a blind Italian poet.

Groto, called il Cieco d' Adria ( the blind man by Adria ), lost eight days after his birth, his eyesight, but still operational philosophical and literary studies with such success that he was able to appear as a public speaker in the 15th year of life.

1565 he was appointed president of the newly founded Academy of Illustrati to Adriatic; He died on December 13, 1585 in Venice, after he had just played the role of the blind king Oedipus at the local theater.

His works are:
