Luis Alberto Monge

Luis Alberto Monge Álvarez ( born December 29, 1925 in Palmares, Alajuela ) is a Costa Rican politician of the Partido Liberación Nacional (PLN). May 8, 1982 to May 8, 1986, he was President of Costa Rica.

Life

Luis Alberto Monge in 1951 was one of the founding members of the Partido Liberación Nacional. Later he was a Costa Rican ambassador to Israel. He proclaimed the active and continued neutrality of Costa Rica in the conflicts in Central America.

During his presidency, he was able to achieve a high degree of stabilization of the economy through various measures. He drove in 1983 preceded the San José dialogue, through which the relations of the European Community have been intensified to Central America.
