Luis de Moscoso Alvarado

Luis de Moscoso Alvarado (* 1505 in Badajoz, Spain, † 1551 in Peru) was a Spanish Conquistador.

Life

In Central America, he accompanied his uncle Pedro de Alvarado in the conquest of present-day Mexico, Guatemala and El Salvador. Beginning of 1530 he was commissioned by his uncle to lead an expedition to the east of El Salvador. On May 8, 1530 when Luis de Moscoso, the settlement of San Miguel de la Frontera, the current capital of the department of San Miguel same name.

In Mexico, he entered the service of the Viceroy of New Spain. He accompanied Antonio de Mendoza in the conquest of Peru. On November 25, 1550, he arrived there and began its work. The following year, 1551, he died.

Posthumously

In 1997, a bridge that leads Puente Luis de Moscoso in San Miguel over the Río Grande de San Miguel, named after him.
