Luis MarÃa EcheberrÃa
Luis María Echeberría Igartua ( born March 24, 1940 in Asúa ) is a former Spanish footballer, who was active on the position of a defender.
Career
The defender made his first steps in football everyday at the Spanish province Club CD Getxo Getxo near Bilbao in the town. In 1961 he joined with 21 years in the Primera División to Athletic Bilbao, where he was a regular player soon. With the traditional club from northern Spain Echeberría 1969 Spanish Cup winner. Overall Echeberría ran 257 times on Bilbao. Here he managed a goal. In Athletic he remained until 1972, then he moved to wind down his career to Barakaldo CF, where he was a year later, the football boots hung on a nail.
In the National Team of his home country Echeberría came 4 times used. With Spain, he participated in the 1962 FIFA World Cup in Chile, where the counting of the favorites Iberians but unceremoniously failed in the first round. A second World Cup tournament was denied the defender, he made his last game for Spain already in 1963. For the European Football Championship 1964, he was nominated, but did not play.
