Luis Regueiro (Mexican footballer)

Luis Regueiro Urquiola ( born December 22, 1943 in Mexico City) is a former Mexican football player who acted mainly in midfield.

Regueiro Urquiola was 18 months president of the football club Club Universidad Nacional and since his retirement from that post, he has been General Counsel for sporting affairs at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México in use between August 2001 and February 2003.

Luis Regueiro Urquiola is the son of the Spanish football player of Basque descent, Luis Regueiro, who came conditioned by the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War, along with his brothers Pedro and Tomás in the late 1930s to Mexico.

From his playing career is known that he played 1963-1967 for the UNAM Pumas, then was with Necaxa in use for three years and then was for two years at Deportivo Toluca under contract.

National

His debut in the dress of the Mexican national Luis Regueiro celebrated on May 11, 1966 in a match against Chile, which was won 1-0. Then Manzo belonged even to the Mexican World Cup squad in 1966, was there not, however, be used.

His only international goal he scored in a 3-1 win against Chile on 27 August 1968. His last international match was against Ethiopia ( 3-0) on September 29, 1968.
