Luitpold Braun

Luitpold Braun ( born August 11, 1950 in Schongau ) is a German local politician (CSU ). He was from 1996 to end of April 2008 District of the Upper Bavarian district of Weilheim- Schongau. In the CSU, he was state chairman of the Municipal Political Association and a member of the national leadership.

Political career

Braun's political career began in 1967 with the entry into the CSU. A year later he became deputy JU- local leader and member of the CSU Board of Schongau location. From 1969 to 1971, Brown JU- local chairman, and from 1973 ( to 1987), Deputy CSU local chairman. His first political office took over Brown in 1972 when he was elected to the city council of his hometown of Schongau. In 1983 he was elected first mayor of the city and remained after repeated re-election until 1996 in this office. In his 13-year tenure, the rehabilitation of the Old City fell Schongauer. The city's infrastructure improvements learned through the expansion of the high school, the refurbishment of the swimming pool and the establishment of a youth center.

After Brown had already heard by the County Council in 1984 as a district council of the district Weilheim -Schongau and from September 1995 to April 1996 was deputy district administrator, he was elected by ballot for the district in the local elections in March 1996. A position he took up on 1 May 1996. On 3 March 2002, he was re-elected with 70.2 per cent for a further six years.

His career in the CSU ( 1990-1994 Regional Chairman of Upper Bavaria, since 1994 state chairman ) led him about the deputy chairman of the CSU district association Weilheim -Schongau (since 1987) and managerial positions in local political organization in the CSU Board. Since 1995 he is part of this body, first by co-option, and since 2007 by choice.

For the election of District 2008 Luitpold Brown was defeated in a runoff election with 46.28 % of the vote to the SPD candidate Friedrich Zeller. Brown subsequently announced to want to withdraw from politics.
