Lukas Geniušas

Luke Geniušas ( born July 1, 1990 in Moscow, Soviet Union ) is a Lithuanian- Russian pianist.

Life

Geniušas learned since the age of five piano and entered 1996 in the Moscow Chopin Academy of Music performances. At the Moscow Conservatory, he studied piano with Vera Wassiljewna Gornostajewa. In 2004 he received a scholarship from the Mstislav Rostropovich Foundation. Since 1996 he has performed internationally with various well-known orchestras and gave solo concerts in famous locations.

Family

Geniušas father of Lithuanian pianist Petras is Geniušas, his mother Xenia Knorre is a professor at the Moscow Conservatory. His grandmother is the famous Russian pianist Vera Wassiljewna Gornostajewa.

Honors and Awards

  • 2003: 1st prize at the First Piano Competition of the Central Music School in Moscow.
  • 2005: 2nd prize in the Gina Auer Bach International Piano Competition, Young Artist, Salt Lake City, Utah, United States.
  • 2009: 1st Prize at the International Piano Competition Musica della Val Tidone Pianello Val Tidone, Piacenza, Italy Province.
  • 2010: 1st prize Gina Auer Bach International Piano Competition, Salt Lake City, Utah, United States.
  • 2010: 2nd Prize at the International Chopin Piano Competition, Warsaw, Poland.
  • 2012: 1st prize German Pianist Award, Frankfurt am Main.
