Luke McAlister

Charles Luke McAlister ( born August 28, 1983 in Waitara, New Zealand) is a New Zealand rugby union player at the position of the connecting Halbs and the inner three- quarter. He currently plays for Stade Toulousain in the Top 14

McAlister was born in Waitara, New Zealand, and went to the Westlake Boys High School for School, where he played as a compound semiconductor. As a professional, he first ran on for the Blues in the Super 14 and for North Harbour in the Air New Zealand Cup. In addition, he also played for Silverdale in the North Harbour premier competition. McAlister won the prize as the world's best U-19 player of the year by the International Rugby Board in 2002. He made his debut with the All Blacks at the age of 21 against the British and Irish Lions in 2005. In his first 10 games, he has scored a total of 72 points ( 3 tries, 12 increases, 11 penalty kicks ). After the Tri Nations 2007, he was appointed to the All Blacks World Cup squad.

While preparing for the 2007 Rugby World Cup in France there were rumors that he will play after the World Cup Stade Toulousain in for the Top 14. Despite his young age and New Zealand rigid selection policy that states that only players will be nominated for the All Blacks, who play in New Zealand, he would like to work for a while outside New Zealand. His father and his agent have both confirmed that he would like to Europe.

After Toulouse declined the offer of, McAlister was in negotiations with the Sale Sharks and Munster Rugby. He opted for the Sale Sharks in England and moved to the World Cup there. His father has also received a job as a coach at the Sharks. McAlister signed a two -year contract. After two years in England, he moved to the end of the season back to New Zealand for the region North Harbour and the Blues. In the 2011/12 season he was obliged by the French giants Stade Toulousain.
