Luke Tomlinson

Luke Tomlinson ( born January 27, 1977 in the UK ) is a professional English polo player and current captain of the England Polo Team. He has a handicap of 7 in the UK and 8 in Argentina, making it one of the best British player.

Life

Luke Tomlinson was born into a family of polo players. His maternal grandfather was the founder of " Woolmers Park Polo Club". Tomlinson is the eldest son of Claire Tomlinson, one of the best female polo players, and Simon Tomlinson. His siblings Emma and Mark also play polo. Together with his family, he operates the " Beaufort Polo Club".

Tomlinson received his academic education at Eton College and at the University of the West of England.

His sporting achievements to date include winning the Queen's Cup, the Gold Cup at Cowdray Park and the Coronation Cup. Except in England he regularly plays in Spain and Argentina. In 2008, he took the team Alegría Park Hyatt participating in the qualification for the Hurlingham Open and the Argentine Open Polo Championship, but lost narrowly to the team of El Paraiso. In February 2009, he was part of the English team in the Westchester Cup and won a victory over the U.S. team. Next he won again in 2009 the Queen's Cup and took the team Alegría at the Hurlingham Open and the Argentine Open in part in Buenos Aires.

Tomlinson came in 2004 in the headlines when he stormed along with Otis Ferry, the son of Brian Ferry, and six other pro- fox-hunting activists, the House of Commons to protest against a law against fox hunting. All eight were sentenced to £ 350 fine and 18 months probation for disturbing the peace.
