Lümatu is a village (Estonian küla ) in the rural community Maidla ( Maidla vald ). It is located in Ida -Viru county (East Wierland ) in northeastern Estonia.
Description and History
The village has two inhabitants ( 2000). Lümatu was first mentioned in 1492.
Nature reserve Sirtsi
The heavily wooded and sparsely populated landscape is an important area of settlement for the native species of Estonia brown bears. 1976, the forest between the village and the moors of Sirbi was declared a nature reserve for brown bears. There is a total of 4525 hectares. In addition to bears wolves, lynx and northern black storks there are native.
