Lüneburg Regional Association

The Lüneburgische Regional Association is a registered charity in Lower Saxony and one of the Regional Associations in Lower Saxony.

History

The association was founded in 1990 under the name of "Regional Cultural Promotion in the former Principality of Lüneburg " and in 1997 renamed " Lüneburgischer Regional Association ". Its area comprises the territory of the historic Principality of Lüneburg and thus mainly the Lüneburg Heath, but also the Wendland and the Amt Neuhaus. Members in the Lüneburg Regional Association of the country districts of Harburg, Lüneburg, Uelzen, Heidekreis, Celle, Gifhorn and Lüchow- Dannenberg, the towns of Lüneburg, Celle and Wolfsburg as well as the historical landscape of the former Principality of Lüneburg.

Tasks

The Lüneburgische Regional Association has, like the other landscapes and landscape associations in Lower Saxony, mainly cultural and political tasks. He has the legal form of a registered association and accepts on behalf of their communities and the state of Lower Saxony central municipal and decentralized public tasks in the fields of culture, science and education. Are financed subsidies on the one hand by funding from the state of Lower Saxony, and by the contributions of the members and by grants from the Landschaftliche Brandkasse where the " landscape of the former Principality of Lüneburg ", a participant of the Regional Association, is involved.
