Lutheran Church–Canada

The Lutheran Church - Canada (English Lutheran Church - Canada (LCC ) ) is an Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada with 67 154 (2010) church members. It represents a more conservative theology as the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada, to which 148 863 (2010 ) are among church members.

History

The Lutheran Church - Canada was until 1988 a part of the Church of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod. They too, like the Missouri Synod, arise due to the emigration in the 19th century. 1988 declared the Canadian congregations of the Missouri Synod their independence and formed the Lutheran Church - Canada. The Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod and the Lutheran Church - Canada are in full churches and altar fellowship. In all church areas both Lutheran churches work closely together.

Organization

The Lutheran Church - Canada is written synodical and is led by a Church President, whose office is located in Winnipeg. The church is divided into three dioceses, which are headed by a diocesan Church President.

The Lutheran Church - Canada is committed to the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testament as a binding doctrinal basis and without restriction to the confessional writings of the Evangelical Lutheran Church ( BSLK ) because it is consistent with the Bible.

Languages

This church is bilingual. Officially, both in English and in French spoken in the churches. In a few communities still German services are offered.

The Lutheran Church of Canada is part of the International Lutheran Council, and is available with the local member churches in churches and altar fellowship as for example with the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod or the Independent Evangelical - Lutheran Church in Germany.
