Lutz Meyer-Goßner

Lutz Meyer- Gossner (* July 10, 1936 in Nienburg (Weser) ) was from 1983 to 2001 Judge of the Federal Court.

His legal career began Meyer- Gossner after completing his Ph.D. in 1964 as a junior barrister in the judicial service of the State of Bavaria.

After his appointment as district judge in 1967, he worked first at the District Court of Munich. Together with the appointment as Judge took over Meyer- Gossner the function of a full-time job community leader in the clerkship. During this activity, he was promoted in 1972 and appointed First prosecutor. Since 1975 worked Meyer- Gossner as Chief Judge of the District Court of Munich I, where he held the chair of small and large criminal divisions.

Since his appointment as judge of the Federal Court in 1983 belonged to Meyer- Gossner at the 4th Criminal Division, since 1992 as its Vice-Chairman and Chairman since December 1994. He resigned on 31 July 2001 as Chairman and retired.

In addition to his demanding judicial activity Meyer- Gossner has emerged mainly as a commentator of the Criminal Procedure Code. Following in the footsteps of Otto Schwarz, Eklund Schmidt and Theodor Kleinknecht he continuously worked to appearing in Beck -Verlag short comment, which determines the practice of the German criminal procedure essential. Meyer- Gossner has also held an honorary professorship at the University of Marburg.
