Lutz Unger

Lutz Unger ( born June 19, 1951 in Wernigerode ) is a former German swimmer. He competed for the SC Dynamo Berlin.

In 1970 he was the 100m individual medley with Roland Matthes, Klaus Katzur and Udo Poser European champion in the 4 x. He won at the Summer Olympic Games in Munich in 1972, the silver medal in the 4 x 100m medley together with Roland Matthes, Klaus Katzur and Hartmut Flöckner and the bronze in the 4 x 100 m freestyle with Roland Matthes, Wilfried Hartung and Peter Bruch, with Unger each as the last float went to the pool. Unger was in 1970 GDR champion over 200 meters and 400 meters freestyle, 1971, he was champion in the 200 meters freestyle at the short course.

In 1972 he was awarded for his sporting achievements at the Olympic Summer Games the Patriotic Order of Merit in bronze.
