Luuq

Luuq (also Lūq, Luuk or Lugh Ganane ) is a town in southern Somalia with 5897 inhabitants. It lies in the Gedo region along the river Jubba, about 50 km from the - controversial - border with Ethiopia. The village is located on the constriction of a peninsula formed by a loop of Juba.

The former Somali president and dictator Siad Barre was born in Luuq / Ganane.
