Lyctus brunneus

Lyctus is a beetle genus within the family of Splintholzkäfer ( Lyctidae ). It involves forest dwelling species which are occasionally introduced in residential and storage areas and cause through their feeding activity in dry woods damage. In Central Europe, is the most famous member of the genus of the parquet beetle ( Lyctus linearis ).

Features

The sensor lobes of the beetles are simple, the limbs are extended not cylindrical. The side edge of the head is provided with a raised bump above the sensor roots. Before the probe root there is a small tooth. The front corners of the pronotum are blunted. The elytra are provided with rows of dots and hairy in the ranks. The front rails are outside tooth-shaped extended at the top and provided with a small, fairly straight Enddorn. The tarsi are rather slim, the jaw member is easy.

Dissemination

The types of Lyctidae family to which the genus Lyctus counts were originally native to tropical regions. Due to the international timber trade, the genus Lyctus is now distributed worldwide except Antarctica.
