Lykke Friis

Lykke Friis (born 27 October 1969 in Lyngby - Taarbæk ) is a Danish political scientist and politician of the liberal party Venstre.

Lykke Friis is the daughter of a Danish father and a German. She attended high school Øregaard and studied political science at the University of Copenhagen. Lykke Friis received in 1992 a M.Sc. in " Economics and Political Science", London School of Economics and Political Science, a year later a cand.scient.pol. the University of Copenhagen. She received her PhD in 1997 in Copenhagen in the field of international politics. Since March 1, 2006 she was a 2007 member of the Council of Wise Men on the Future of Europe for a five-year term Vice-Rector of the University of Copenhagen and from December.

Friis was appointed on 24 November 2009 for climate and energy minister and advocated the same day the party of Prime Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen. It triggered from Connie Hedegaard. As part of a Government reshuffle she received on 23 February 2010, the responsibility for gender equality. While Løkke Rasmussen government has not been confirmed in September 2011 by the voters, Friis won a parliamentary seat and held henceforth the post of European policy spokeswoman for the Venstre Group in the Folketing. In May 2013, it resigned its mandate to again be Vice-Rector of the University of Copenhagen from August.

On 27 October 2009 she was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit for her services to the German -Danish relations.
