Lynds' Catalogue of Bright Nebulae

Lynds ' Catalogue of Bright Nebulae is an astronomical catalog brighter fog.

Items in this catalog are prefixed with the LBN (not to be confused with the LDN Lynds ' Catalogue of Dark Nebulae ). Very many of the items in this catalog can also be found in other collections again. Thus, for example, LBN 974, also better known under the name Orion nebula and find as M 42 or NGC 1976.

It was originally compiled in the 1960s by Beverly Lynds. This catalog contains among others especially the coordinates of the mist, a private Brightness System 1-6, 1 being the lightest and 6 are objects which are just still recognizable, the colors and the apparent sizes of the objects as well as cross-references to other catalogs.
