Lysimachus of Egypt

Lysimachus (Greek Λυσίμαχος; † around 222/221 BC) was a prince of the Hellenistic Ptolemäerdynastie in Egypt.

Lysimachus, the second -born legitimate son of King Ptolemy II and Arsinoe was the I.; his older brother was the successor in the kingdom of Ptolemy III. It was named after his maternal grandfather, the Diadochenherrscher Lysimachus. Shortly after the beginning of the reign of his nephew, Ptolemy IV ( 222-205 BC) Lysimachus fell just as his sister Berenice II and his nephew Magas an attempted assassination of the influential Court Minister Sosibius victim.
