Geography

Maas village is situated between Köthen (Anhalt) and Halle ( Saale), south-east of Edderitz.

History

Mastre was first mentioned in 1253 and was sold in 1338 by John of Gatersleben to Prince Albert II. Since 1469 the place is called Mass village. 1844, there were 279 people. The old church of the village, which dates back to the 14th century, was demolished in 1901 and replaced by a new building.

Until the formation of the unified community Southern Anhalt on 1 January 2010 Maas village was an independent municipality in the administrative community Southern Anhalt.
